Pancho did an excellent job altering my wedding dress and my husband's suit- he was recommended to me by the women I bought my dress from because he had experience with it's designer, a moderately pricey and rare line. When I picked my dress up from the dress store, I cried the whole way home- it was very tight across my stomach and loose and facing off the shoulders, it fit very different than the clipped sample size I had loved! I took it to Lara's Tailor, and Pancho listened to my concerns, explained what he was going to do and why, and we had a good conversation - I left feeling like I was in good hands! It took him longer than the estimated time for that first fitting to be complete, and I got a little nervous as my 2nd fitting ended up being 2 weeks before the wedding. I came down and he had done a great job loosening and adjusting the dress. He was more than willing to even tighten/take it in a little when I felt it was too loose, and he projected 1 week to readjust and complete the hem. True to his word, it was ready in a week, I tried it on and it fit wonderfully! He even made an easy to-do bustle for me, rather than a complicated affairs of ribbons and hidden loops that the dress had. I left feeling completely satisfied and confident I would look and feel my best on our wedding day. Husband was also initially not thrilled about the fit of the suit he bought, Pancho put him at ease spending time with him to create a flattering cut, and difference in my husband's excitement and confidence about his outfit was 100% improved after the first fitting, and again when he picked up the final suit. Overall a great experience, plan for a little delay just in case, and know it may be some $ (not sure how he compares to others in the business)
Pancho the owner is amazing. He did exactly what I wanted and my dress was very complicated. It was very long and flowy with an open back and needed about 3 visits over a month long period. He was timely and great at communicating. Highly recommend!
The dude is a magician! I was recommended by R. Douglas so I knew he was the real deal but now I've seen it with my own two eyes! I took my tuxedo jacket in that I bought as modern fit and asked him to make it slim fit. He made it so it molds perfectly to my body and looks phenomenal.
I've read some of the reviews saying that he takes a long time so when I dropped it off I was expecting about two weeks or so, nope. He got it done in one week exact. Nothing but praise here! I will be returning again and again for any alteration needs.
Pancho Lara is simply a master tailor. Everything he has repaired for me was performed with expert craftsmanship and in a timely manner. I highly recommend Pancho for any of your tailoring needs, whether it is to repair clothing or custom fit a suit.
Pancho is an awesome tailor. Will get you fitted perfectly. Highly recommend him. I have been going to him since he opened his shop a couple years ago and finally got around to give him a review.
I moved to Sacramento over a year ago, and have been going here for tailoring ever since. Zero complaints. Stellar job -- every single time!
I had a bridesmaid dress and my own wedding dress done by Poncho. Listen, both came out great! He does amazing work, especially since my wedding dress was very complicated to alter. He had to hand stitch a lot of lace, hem three layers, add in a bustle, etc. It came out great, and so did my hem on the bridesmaid dress.
However, if you want something altered here, give him lots and lots of time. Fortunately, and unfortunately, he's doing really well and getting lots of business (again, because his work is excellent)! It takes a very, very long time to get anything altered here. I went in 7 times to pick up my dresses, and they 'weren't ready'. Guys, my wedding dress was picked up 4 days before I got married. That was NOT how that was supposed to go down, and I was very stressed out, even though I had given him what I thought was plenty of time.
So, go to Lara's Tailor for alterations! But make sure you assist with time management or don't take anything to him last minute.
This guy's work is definitely 5-star worthy! I won't lie that his shop isn't the most well kept store I've been too, but it honestly doesn't matter. I think if anything, it speaks to how much of a hardworker this guy is. I read some reviews about him only recently opening up his on store, so I'm sure in the future that he'll be able to really organize everything.
There are still seats to sit in, the fitting rooms are kept, you can get water and coffee, and the work is excellent! What more do you really need? I had both of my suit pants done by Pancho and am extremely pleased with the timeliness of it and the quality of them. I'm going to bring my other 2 suits in to have them brought in at the waist. This is definitely my go to place!
I'm a huge procrastinator. When I told people a week before the wedding that I hadn't had my bridesmaid dress hemmed yet, looks of horror and concern met me. Called this place since it's close to my house, and was assured the 6 inches of lace I needed hemmed would be done in ASAP. Took it in Monday evening and picked it up Thursday, the day before the wedding. It looked great and was the perfect length! Will definitely go back.
Fantastic service from someone who takes pride in his work! I highly recommend Pancho! He is very nice person who is willing to work with you if you have time constraints! Prices are reasonable and service is top notch! Thank you!
I have been a long time customer of Poncho, way before he went into business for his self. I couldn't locate him for a while so I had to settle for mediocre work, thank god I new his last name and thank god for the internet & Google. To say he does alterations would be an injustice. He is a professional, perfectionist, very meticulous and a master tailor. He's very attentive to his customer's needs and that's why I love his work. I have a very unique body shape and every pair of pant's I buy are to big in the back of the waist, Poncho knows exactly how to customize my clothes so that they fit and look like they were made just for me. I can honestly say 100% if you want excellent customer service, fabulous work from a master tailor, look no further Lara's Tailor is the ONLY place you should take your garments to. I highly recommend him and the price's are very reasonable. Poncho thank you for all that you do and I wish you many blessings on your new business.
If you have clothing you really care for and want fitted correctly come to Lara's tailor. I can't recommend Pancho's work enough. I've had conversations with him about his experience and he's told me he's been at it for 30 years and he's a master tailor. Seeing that I had him tailor things from a jean shirt, to a dress shirt, to various leather belts, all types of pants from jeans to wool pants, and now an expensive suit I bought from Nordstroms, I trust he's telling the truth. He's able to do what you envision and he's able to give suggestions that are always a step forward to what you're thinking. I've had numerous tailors who tell me what I'm doing is a bad idea because I like a more modern slim fit and they like more of a classic fit, but with Pancho it's never a problem.
The only bad thing I've seen other reviews point out is the fact his place his messy. I look at it as a master crafter working hard. I mean he's literally the only person running the shop. Also I talked to him about it and he's trying to renovate the place to be more hip to accommodate all the yelpers coming in (he's happy yelp is getting his name out). So if you go in there, and you have any suggestions maybe let him know !
All in all, an amazing tailor and a good guy. I really hope for him the best and success.

(I'll upload a pic of the suit once I get it on the 18th)
This place is a 5 star alterations and tailor. Loved my experience here and would return again.
Pancho is the man! I always go to him for all my tailoring needs. He's very responsive, reasonably priced, and is definitely a master of his craft. His store is in a great location in East Sac and is really easy to get to (in the same parking lot as Clubhouse 56). I look forward to continuing to bring him all my shirts and pants that I need to get fitted.
I would like to highly recommend Pancho for your wedding alterations. He did an amazing job on my dress. I went to one seamstress before him and she declined because she was not confident enough to make the alterations. But Pancho was confident and the results were seamless. His prices are very reasonable. If you look at the picture I'm going to upload, he had to raise the hem below my hip. I did not want him to alter the scalloped bottom of the dress. Absolutely beautiful work. Thank you, Pancho.
Best tailor in Sacramento, hands down! There is no alteration on menswear that he can't do.
I contacted Pancho the night before regarding some tailoring to my pants. Pancho was able to knock them out in a few hours!! Awesome work and he has a real attention to detail. Will be back again!
Pancho is the absolute best. Honestly. He is very, very good at his craft. I've been taking my suits to him for years, even before he moved to this location. I like my suits to fit slim and he's always able to do whatever needs to be done to get the fit right. I recently received a custom suit who's sleeves for whatever reason were way too wide. He slimmed them up and even opened the armhole and made that slimmer because they really needed to be taken in. It ended up fitting really nice. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
I recommended Pancho to a friend today but hadn't realized he left his previous employer. I did a little google search and found him. I've yet to visit his new spot but I can absolutely vouch for his work. I've taken several suits to him over the years and they all fit like a glove. I'm happy he finally has his own shop!
Poncho is easy to work with and does excellent alterations.
I'm so happy to have found Pancho again! I was very disappointed when I discovered he had left his former employer and I wasn't sure how to get in touch with him. Thank goodness for Google and Yelp that led me back to this most wonderful, skilled and personable tailor. Truly happy that he ventured out on his own and in East Sac of all places, just down the street from me! I'm planning on visiting him this week for some alterations. I encourage you Yelpers to do the same if you want excellent tailoring at very fair prices. Let's support support small businesses!
Pancho Lara did a fantastic job in remaking a bridesmaids dress that was two sizes too big. It looks amazing now.
If you are looking for the best tailor in Sacramento, look no further, it's Pancho Lara. Pancho has been a tailor for over 30 years and he is a cut above anyone I have ever found in the area. Not only is he skilled and meticulous, he's also the nicest guy you would ever want to meet. His work is flawless and his rates are very affordable. I have brought Pancho everything from $2,000 Ralph Lauren tuxedos, $1,500 Moncler jackets, suits, dress slacks, jeans, and more. Every item fits like a glove. I had to look long and hard to find a craftsman like Pancho, who takes pride in his work and wants it to be perfect. You will not be disappointed; he is simply the best tailor in Sacramento.
Pancho is a great tailor. One of the best that I've had. Excellent work, reasonable prices. I take all my suits and shirts here and I know that it will get done well. Really good insight on how things look, and if I need it to be tailored again he doesn't charge extra. I'll keep going to him for all my alterations and tailoring.
Pancho is the best tailor I've ever worked with, up and down the state. Bar none. His work speaks for itself--everything in my wardrobe that he's altered regularly gets compliments. He transforms off-the-rack into looking better than custom-made. (Not to mention that he's so easygoing, and as nice as the day is long.) If you're a guy who favors sharp and slim suits, chances are you've worked with Pancho at his old employer, Morrow's. He's also still the in-house tailor for J. Crew at Arden Fair.
Pancho very recently parted ways with Morrow's to open his own shop here on 56th and H, next door to Katia's Collections. His prices continue to be very reasonable and affordable, and you more than get what you pay for, considering the outstanding caliber of his work. Many of his clients from Morrow's (including myself) have recently called there asking for him. We've sadly been misled. The proprietors of Morrow's lied to me and said that he's "on vacation" and told me to "come in anyway," etc. When I pressed them about it, they were both evasive and condescending, snapping "He's just an employee, you don't need to talk to him." Unscrupulous and petty--Pancho was always the one redeeming quality of Morrow's, and they know it. The only way I was able to eventually find him was through calling J. Crew.
Don't believe Morrow's BS for a second--Pancho has moved on, and good for him. Come find him here at Lara's Tailor. As a Pancho loyalist, I'm so happy to see him start his new business, which I'm both proud to support and eager to see succeed. Please, if you love style and can appreciate true craftsmanship in tailoring--modern sensibility mixed with classic professionalism--bring your business to Lara's. Once you see his results on your first piece, you won't go anywhere else.
